house redo : living room

Sharing something a little different and personal today . . . a peek into our house renovations! As you may have noticed from my Instagram we recently purchased and moved into a new (well new to us, hello 1950s!) home. It’s a bit of a fixer upper and we are having lots of fun making it our own . . . I LOVE design and being an interior designer would be my other dream job, right behind photographer and professional world traveler ;)

I am running with the mid-century vibe of the house, take a peek at my overall house inspiration below. White and bright is the theme and of course our REAL house will never quite look like the million dollar professional design jobs on Pinterest BUT I love working with what we’ve got . . . and white paint works wonders :)

First up the living room . . . probably one of the main reasons we bought the house and the room that needed the least amount of work (thus the only room really finished so far :). It has great surfaces – the original stone fireplace and huge front windows. Yay for light!

awesome chair that was my Grandpas! Pillows & little pieces collected on our travels.

We really enjoy music throughout our house and totally love this Sonos wi-fi hi-fi system and have speakers in several rooms (they aren’t even too ugly and great while working on the house each weekend!). Would highly recommend!

I can’t get enough house plants these days :) A super cool graphic print made by the talented Andrea is above. And that’s the living room for now – the entire house will probably always be a work in progress as I continue to curate pieces, complete some diys and update the other rooms.

Thinking about adding another chair and possibly a console table behind the sofa yet . . . what do you guys think? Would love to hear thoughts/suggestions and I would be happy to share any info I can or where pieces came from. Hope you enjoyed a look into my home!
